The world premiere of Requiem for Colour honors the lives and legacies of enslaved blacks from 1619-1865 and our contemporary Black martyrs who offered themselves as a sacrifice for equality and freedom. Idiomatic Black musical genres are skillfully infused within the Western European style of composition making this a unique masterwork.
